Best Parks in Coeur d'Alene and North Idaho
By Parks of Idaho · October 17, 2026
North Idaho's standout parks usually come with a beach, a boat launch or a trail running past. Most of them are in Kootenai County, where Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls have swimming beaches and splash pads, and Hayden and Rathdrum have roomy neighborhood parks with disc golf and ball fields. Farther out, Sandpoint, Priest River and the Silver Valley each have a park worth the drive.
Coeur d'Alene
Start with Coeur d'Alene City Park, about 35 acres with a swimming beach, a skate park, a BMX track and courts for pickleball, basketball and volleyball. McEuen Park covers about 22 acres with a boat launch and mooring, a splash pad, a dog park and tennis and pickleball courts. The North Idaho Centennial Trail runs along both, so they pair well on a bike. Riverstone Park sits on the same trail, with an amphitheater, a dog park and a playground with swings on about 12 acres.
For another swim, Atlas Mill Park has a swimming beach and a kayak launch on about 13 acres, with a dog park and a playground on dry land. Cherry Hill Park is the cold-weather pick, with a sledding hill on about 29 acres plus a BMX track, disc golf and a dog park. If the kids want a splash pad, Landings Park and Bluegrass Park each have one along with a playground, and Bluegrass adds disc golf.
Post Falls
Q'emiln Park covers about 77 acres in Post Falls, with a swimming beach on the south channel of the Spokane River, a climbing wall and the Riverside, Outback and Loop trails. Corbin Park is on the Spokane River too, with a beach, fishing and disc golf across about 43 acres. Black Bay Park and Kiwanis Park round out the swimming options, each with a swimming beach, fishing and a wooded area.
For splash pads, head to Tullamore Park, Syringa Park or Beck Park, which each pair one with a playground. Tullamore and Syringa also have amphitheaters, while Beck and Tullamore have pickleball. Crown Pointe Park is worth knowing for its gaga ball pit, and it has pickleball and basketball courts and a playground on about 4.5 acres too.
Hayden
In Hayden, Croffoot Park has an RC track and a dog park on about 26 acres, plus a ball field, a multi-use field and concessions for game days. Stoddard Park is the change of pace, with an arboretum, an amphitheater and a playground with swings on about 8 acres. Disc golfers should head to Broadmoore Park, where the course shares about 11 acres with a ball field, volleyball and horseshoes.
Rathdrum and Athol
Majestic Park is the summer stop in Rathdrum, with a splash pad, a climbing wall and a playground on about 10.5 acres. Stub Meyer Park is the sports park, with a baseball field, pickleball, basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and concessions on about 10 acres. For a picnic by the water, Rathdrum City Park sits on Rathdrum Creek with a pavilion, a grill and a playground with swings. In Athol, Athol City Park fits an amphitheater, a skate park, a ball field and a basketball court into about 2 acres.
Sandpoint, Ponderay and Priest River
In Sandpoint, City Beach & Windbag Marina fills about 22 acres with a playground, swings and a sandbox, horseshoe pits, concessions and courts for tennis, basketball and volleyball. Travers Park covers nearly 18 acres with a skate park, a ball field and tennis and pickleball courts. Lakeview Park is worth a stop for the Spokane International caboose on its grounds, and Humbird Mill Park is the place to pick up the Pend d'Oreille Bay Trail.
Over in Priest River, Priest River City Park has a zip line and a merry-go-round at its playground, with swings, a pavilion and a walking path on about 3.5 acres. Ponderay's McNearney Park has a pump track, a playground with swings and a walking trail. In Clark Fork, Veteran's Memorial Park has swings and slides at the playground and a grill by the picnic tables.
The Silver Valley
In Shoshone County, Kellogg City Park and Gene Day Park both sit on the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, so either makes a good break on a ride. Kellogg's park has a swimming pool, disc golf, a baseball field and a community garden on about 10 acres. Gene Day, a county park in Osburn, has tennis and basketball courts, a playground and a pavilion with a grill on about 17 acres. West Shoshone Park in Pinehurst is bigger still, about 33 acres along Little Pine Creek with a baseball field and tennis, pickleball and basketball courts.
For a summer day in Kootenai County, pair a beach morning at Coeur d'Alene City Park with a splash pad stop at Tullamore Park or Majestic Park. Come winter, the sledding hill at Cherry Hill Park is the call.
